ANFSD January

Here is the LO in full that I did for Shimelles UKS challenge. Apologies for the shadow cast across the photo.  I only have my iPhone camera at the moment and have been having trouble loading photos onto the computer recently.  It seems to want to sync my phone at the same time (it never used to) and this means losing my carefully selected playlist.
And when I say carefully selected, I mean it takes me nearly an hour to scroll down all the albums we have stored on here, manually tick the songs I want one by one (if anyone knows how to select many on iTunes, be grateful if you could tell me) then, upload them back up.

It also means that I can't alter the photo.  Mind, not I know how to do that yet...have only just uploaded Picasa so am still fiddling with it.

Anyhoo, I had to post this to Facebook, then save it onto my computer from there to beable to get it into the gallery. I don't normally post my LOs on there but I suppose there is no harm in my family seeing what I do on my days off :P

In case anyone is wondering, the pictures are of me, (Brownie uniform), sis and bro having our pics taken at my nans.  I'm currently 'stealing' photos from my Uncle to scan so I can scrap them and there are a lot of these type of photos.

Take Twelve: January

This year, I thought I would have a go at following a year long project. One that I have started is Take Twelve. I reckon I can keep up with 12 photos a month and if I manage to complete the whole year, then I may have the courage to try one of the more 'intense' projects.

So, the first 12th of the month landed on a shift pattern that sees me live at work for 2 days.  I was a bit unsure about taking pictures at work but then, work is part of my life so why can't I document it?

1st row L-R
1. One of the cakes they were showing on Ireland AM that morning.  It was a wedding special and some of the cakes were gorgeous. This cake has 'all you need is love' in edible decoration.
2. The view from the lounge window at about 8am.  I love how colourful the sky looks sometimes.
3. Print out of the first simple recipe guide at UKS. I had put together a kit to take to work to use during my long break between shifts.
4. In process of scrapping

2nd row L-R
5. Completed LO using the Simple Recipe kit.
6. Part of the walk I do when I am on splits
7. Counting money ...book work sucks lol
8. That is the mat at work....I was experimenting with some apps on my phone

3rd row L-R
9. Another experiment with the phone.
10. One of the lads had a birthday during their stay, so we had a small party.
11. The curtain in the sleepover room....another experiment.
12. A sneaky one at the cinema...we went to see New Years Eve.  Watchable but no Love Actually!

Thats the photos sorted so! Not sure how I will scrap them yet but am working on an idea for a mini book, just need to put into practice!

Is this is the best wedding clip ever?

Ha Ha...just been listening to this song on my iphone and I just had to share it. It still makes me smile and reminds me of girly get togethers around the record player/tape deck (depending on the house!!).
I was mad into Neighbours and especially Scott and Charlene.....needless to say my walls were covered in Smash Hits posters of the pair (and as their 'alter egos' Kylie and Jason :P).
And since I mention those pair...maybe I will add this as well....

so I can ramble on about how my parents bought me the single when they went out Christmas shopping (I am sure it was out around then but correct me if I am wrong...my memory is a bit shot these days) and I proceeded to spend days on my dads records player listening to it (with headphones naturally...although I did try and torture the family occasionally....guess just my poor singing was enough for them!).  I loved the B side just as much..if not just a little bit more......"all I really wanna do is make you so so happy...all I wanna do is make you smile.....".Mmmmm...wonder if I can find that......?

Yay...result......ok off to see if iTunes as it now (or if there is a way I can record my beloved single onto something digital) and then scrapbook as all of a sudden, I feel a bit creative.

Isn't it amazing what one song can do?  :)

Miracles do happen

The boss has only been asking me for a tea cosy for about 4 or so years! He said it would never happen...me, a procastinator?...never........but this year, I got a breakfast set from his brother and sister-in-law so I had no excuse.  I am quite pleased with it plus it is the first time I have knitted stripes...knitting is the craft I do least if i am honest but only because I am still a bit nervous.....I have enough wool left over to do myself one as well so happy days :)

Next miracle to tackle? The sewing machine....only had that for 7 years and use it so rarely, the boss keeps making jokes that this promised peg bag I was going to do in exchange for it will never happen! Will keep you posted on that one :P

My Month In Numbers

So, the year is drawing to a close (as I write, there is only 50 minutes left....by the time I finish this it will probably be 2012 :P)
It has been a mixed year but certainly on some fronts, a reasonably positive one.

I was going to do a Year in Numbers but as I was thinking about what to write, I seem to have a couple to write about in December and also, my head is a bit too fried to think about the whole year (plus, having Morecombe and Wise highlights in the background is awful distracting lol). I have just finshed the first of a 4 day working run which neatly brings me to my first number....

13.5hrs - which is the amount of hours a weekend/holiday shift consists of for me. I don't normally do 4 in a row but needs must and at least I will have nearly all my weeks done by Tuesday night :)  And the boss reckons I don't work anyway since I usually come home with tales of trips out for dinner, watching films and making things..Well, there has to be some perks to the length of shift lol

So, my Decemeber consists mainly of children...my sister came over this year for Christmas up at the 'old  peoples' , and she brought her 4 beautiful, noisy children.

my beautiful sis....she only posed because #3 and 4 wanted to see me take a picture of her

#4 ...like butter wouldn't melt !!!!!! :P

#3 not quite camera shy yet thankfully

#2 being inducted into the ways of papercrafting..she loved my Big Shot

#1...probably the best picture I could get of him lol

Ok, let me explain the # names I have given them.
When I met the boss, my sister already had #1.  She had #2 about a year after we met and he took a while to remember her name. Then she had #'s3 and 4 within a year of each other (they are 2 and 3 at the end of  Jan) and he now refuses to call them anything other than 3 and 4.  My sister reflected this on the tag on his pressie this yr which read from A, A, R, C, #3 and #4 lol
Needless to say, as the photos were uploading, I figured it was a good way to talk about them on here :) ..see...the boss is handy for something lol

It was great having them over and #s1 and 2 spent a night here which I enjoyed.  I didn't get to see them as much as I would have liked as the boss was ill over Christmas and at the moment, he is my taxi service, but I was just grateful to spend some time with them and my sister.
The old people need a week to recover I think......not least to stop the ringing in their ears from the constant noise lol.

1 broken bauble - no decorations as such this year as I couldn't be fussed with a tree but I badgered the boss enough to get a few baubles and tinsel across the mantelpiece and the lights up the stairs.  Except, the one at the far end of the picture fell off and broke. Not sure I will be allowed to do it again next year!!! :s I am just thankful it was only one bauble and not one of the icicle things....they would have probably been taken down there and then lol

05.45 - when we got our first (and so far only) bit of snow this side of 2011. It was great to see it as it fell though and torture not to go running out into it ( I was at work at the time!!)

11oC  -that was the temperature on Christmas day.....probably about the same as our summer this year.   Note the picture was not taken on the day.....I forgot but thankfully this experiment picture had the right number on it lol.  There has been an awful lot of rain though....but then is that really a surprise?! Plenty of wind as well which has been a bit less welcome.

Right, I am off since it has taken me over an hour to write this thing lol

HAPPY NEW YEAR PEEPS

nearly forgot..pop here to see Julies numbers and her links to everyone else who joins in
