Storytelling Sunday: July

Pictures are wonderful.

They give you snapshots of your life. Things you have enjoyed (or occasionally have not enjoyed). Places you have been. Things you have seen. People you love.

They are precious for bringing back memories that may have been supressed for years...

...I had totally forgotten about that guitar but I remember loving it after finding this picture.

They are precious for sharing stories, even if the picture isn't quite what you want.

They are precious for the images of those that have passed so that you remember them and can share their stories with generations that will never meet them.

But, photographs are not my precious this month.
Because I have found something altogether more fun, heartwarming and memory inducing.

I finally rescued the family videos that have been in my parents storage container for the last few years.

I am not ashamed to admit that when I first heard his voice for the first time in 15 years, I cried.

I can't wait to have a proper look at them and get them onto DVD so everyone can see them.

So far, my most favourite precious to date.

Storytelling Sunday is a meme created by the lovely Sian. If you want to join in or just want to read some wonderful stories, hop over and have a look.

  1. Truly a precious, enjoy the time when you can share them x

  3. A perfect precious :o) I have only one video of myself, from 1985, but nothing to play it on any more. You've jogged my memory about getting it put onto DVD.

  4. Perfectly precious. I completely agree. I have some precious video created from a cine film of my parents wedding..and although i was frightened about what my reaction would be the first time I watched, i loved it because it made me feel like i had got lots of family members back again. My FIL had one of the first video cameras, and my children never knew him, but they know his voice from his home movies. They call him the "voiceover man". So I love this! Thank you.

  5. Oh what a wonderful precious. I only have one video of my brother and it is lovely to be able to hear his voice.

  6. Cool! You should definitely put them into a DVD so you can still enjoy them. Thanks for sharing! xoxo from France

  7. I think that was a perfect precious for this month. It really doesn't matter how you keep your memories just as long as you do!!

  8. What a wonderful precious - get them transferred to DVD definitely - we have and it is a wonderful way to look back at those moments in life you may have forgotten. Thanks for sharing.

  12. We used to have old Super 8 movies... no idea what happened to them. We definitely need to get all the VHS tapes of our girls growing up transferred to DVD
