officially joined in with OLW now

As the picture below testifies.

I printed the video transcripts and prompts for jan and feb and will be reading and planning as living at work for next couple days. This means limited access to internet :(
Then at the weekend I can learn how to use all the overlays etc in Word, say hi in class and get an album together .... well may have some ideas anyway :p

And before I run to catch the bus, below is the MIL birthday card using scraps from Studio Calico. Hope the boss remembers to post it today!!!!!

Cards and walls

Below is the card I made for my aunt for her birthday last month.

The image is one of the LOTV freebies that came with Papercraft Inspirations a few months back. I would never normally use these types of images but I have made a few cards using them now and I have quite liked the results.
I probably should explain the greeting. My aunt has lived in Sweden for the last year and while she is not Swedish, she does speak the language quite well. So, I figured it was only right to send her a card in her 'native' tongue. I think I may do this for her whole family now. I am of course throwing in a bit of Irish as a challenge. Although that is more of a challenge for myself since I don't speak that either.
Who would have thought Google translate would be so handy!

My other share for today is this ...

I am not sure how well this photographed as I have only viewed it on my phone. I don't think the top right sticker came out well though (it reads football crazy)
Part of me feels that the LO needs a bit more but I am not sure what so I am happy to leave it as it is and go back to it at a later date.
I am pleased with my journalling though as that is something I am still a bit nervous about.
Basically, after telling my parents I wanted my room repainted in Liverpool colours (green and red at the time), they promptly delivered while I was visiting a friend for 2 weeks.
The badge incidentally was drawn and painted by my Aunt.
A mightily talented artist she is.

EDIT: Hopefully this will have posted ... have been trying for 2 weeks!!!

And while I'm here ...COME ON LIVERPOOL :)

Scrapbook Saturday

Stacey at Havoc and Mayhem is running a Scrapbook Saturday and I couldn't resist playing along after the 2 LOs I made yesterday, which I am quite proud of.

The first is this one:

I have a load of pictures of me, my uncle and #1 when we went to the DR Who exhibition a few years ago and I really want to scrap them in a TARDIS album or something similar.  Yesterday, I finally had my first go at seeing how good my TARDIS making skills were.

It is 8ish" x11and is mainly paper piecing of cardstock.  I sketched the boxes freehand (can you tell that not all the windows are the same size!?) and inked round the edges for emphasis.  The writing was done in white Insignio pen.

I am not sure if I will go this size but I am happy with my ability to get the basic look and so can work from there.  I can see lots of TARDIS shaped scrapping in the future :)

The second LO:

is again 8ish x11 and was a result of the 2peas CHA challenges. I took the picture a couple of years ago when I was learning how to use my (now emigrated to England :() camera.  The 'title' was written on Fabrips which I cut into strips. (It is a quote from Gladstone that was in one of the tea boxes.  If you can't read it and want to know what it says, let me know in the comments and I will edit this post accordingly).

The rest of the LO came from a mixture of Studio Calico kits, although I do know that the main paper is Basic Grey.  The embellishment was made using a couple of Papermania chipboard pieces, a heart that #2 had 'Big Shotted' over Christmas (I have loads of them), a few buttons and some Glossy Accent.

I quite liked working at this size and will definately do so again.  My only problem now is that I have to get something to keep them in!!!

A Month in Numbers: January

This year for my month in numbers, I have decided to scrap a LO each month. Because I am making a dedicated album for it, I am hoping this will mean that I will keep upto date as it will annoy me to see missing months.
I am also planning to make a small notebook to carry around so I can jot my numbers down as I think of them. Actually, I am planning on making lots of little notebooks for various 'things' but I have to stop thinking about it and do it lol

The LO is based on a graph which was an idea I thought would be useful for this. It is challenge 10 of the CHA challenges on 2peas . I used SC kit from Dec and also used machine stitching for the first time...yay, I didn't break the machine.

Ok, so my numbers read as follows:

2 teapot cosies that I talked about here

408 pages in the book that I read last week...The Marsh Kings Daughter by Elizabeth Chadwick is a romance novel set in the time of King John.  I really enjoyed it and i wouldn't really be one for romance novels normally.

7 birthdays to celebrate this month. #3 and #4 both had birthdays. #3 was 3 (!) and #4 was 2. The boss had his birthday near the beginning of the month and we went out the day after for a meal and a few drinks.  We don't normally do anything so it was nice.

5 days that I suffered with a sore throat.  That is a long time for me. I normally get ill for about 48 hours then just run tired for a week afterwards.  After the sore throat, I had sinus trouble for another 3 days. I don't know if it is good or bad that this all happened during my week off between nights.

5 1/2 is the size that I bought my new trainers in. Nothing remarkable in that I hear you cry? Will you be surprised if I tell you that I wear a size 7 normally?
